My Book Boyfriend (4)

My Book Boyfriend is a Meme hosted by The Unread Reader

This time this choice wasn't too hard as the obvious choice out of the books I've read recently is Ray Singh from The Lovely Bones, I don't know what it is about Ray but the moment I started reading about him. His connection to Susie is amazing and so sweet and thoughtful he never stops thinking about her long after her death.

Stats
  • Black wavy hair.
  • Eyes the colour of chocolate.
  • Dark tanned skin.
  • Soft and gently spoken.
  • Smart.
  • Kind and thoughtful.
  • Ever loving to Susie.
I admire Ray for a lot of reasons, for coping with Susie's death to befriending Ruth the strange girl who see's things no-one does. Ultimatley Ray Singh was Susie's first crush, first kiss and first love. When Susie died they were just getting to know each other and after she died they both wished for more. When Ruth and Susie swap bodies so Susie can encounter Ray for the last time is how Susie finally sets Ray free.

My Favourite scene between Ray and Susie has got to be near the end when Ray is older, (This contains spoilers!) Ruth and Susie swap bodies. As soon as Ray sees her he knows its not Ruth anymore then they make up for all the lost time together, all the emotion and sadness that this is their last meeting before Susie moves on.

Here are some of my favourite quotes from Ray:

' You are beautiful, Susie Salmon.' - This is what any girl wants to hear and the way he says it paints a picture.

'If I had but an hour of love, If that be all that is given me, An hour of love upon this earth, I would give my love to thee.'

The Dreamer xo

P.S As stated by Missie at the Unread Reader we can't use pictures anymore due to copyright reasons. I put forward the idea of still using images to portray the book boyfriend but at the bottom or underneath the pictures the source and website from where they come from.

    1. You should! I think the movie is more creepy than the book as they put more emphasis on Mr Harvey's fascination with Susie, I will look at yours :)

  4. I loved Ray too! It hurt so much to see their love story cut short by Susie's brutal murder. But yes, that quote is amazing. It's been a while since I've read this book! Thanks for featuring Ray!
